The Daytona 500 odds for betting on NASCAR also support this but how is the race set and how do drivers qualify? Front-row qualifying for the Daytona 500 2017 will take place on Sunday 26th February with the second stage of qualifying known as the Can-Am Duel races taking place on Thursday.

The Daytona 500 is NASCAR's biggest and most important race!

On Sunday, the first two positions in the race will be determined by single-car qualifying. There are two rounds and the 12 fastest cars from Round 1 advance to Round 2. The two fastest cars in Round 2 get the 1st and 2nd positions at Daytona. The Can-Am Duels have two qualifying rounds also and these determine the positions for 3 - 38th place. The last two spots for Daytona 500 are given to the top two open teams that didn't qualify in the Can-Am Duels.

There will be three stages in the NASCAR Daytona 500 race, two 60-lap stages, and a final 80-lap stage, with points being awarded after each stage. Cars will only be given a 5-minute window to fix any problems on the pit road. Any longer than this and the car is pulled from the race.
