The ALC Sportsbook from the Atlantic Lottery Corporation is run by the four Atlantic Canada provinces and is a popular choice for CA players. These provinces are Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Prince Edward Island. The provinces are in control of lottery and gambling and run a number of casinos, lottery, horse betting, and sports betting operations. The sports betting feature that they offer is known as Proline and below you will find all the information you need to know. It is worth noting that only Canadians living in these provinces can use the ALC Sportsbook site so if you don't live in one of these provinces be sure to check out our list of bookmakers that you can bet legally with on PC and/or mobile.

ALC Sports Betting Bonus and Promotions for Canada

While most online sports betting websites offer sign-up bonuses and free bets for new players, the sportsbook ALC through their Pro-Line offering doesn't. This is such as shame as welcome bonuses can often encourage new players to sign up. If you are looking for great bonuses and bonus codes for Canadian players we recommend you check out our best sports betting sites for Canadians which you will find here on our site.

Mobile Betting

ALC Sportsbook does give Canadian bettors the option to do everything on their mobile devices. There are dedicated apps for both iOS and Android devices so whether you have an iPhone, iPad, or Android smartphone or tablet you can download the app and make sure you don't miss out on the action. You can make picks anytime, anywhere using the real-time events lists. No need to fill out any paper betting slips. Bettors can also save their picks which will then generate a barcode that they can have scanned at any Lottery terminal. They can get event details and results as well as receive updates on their picks and events too. You can find all the information on the ALC Sportsbook website and the links to the apps stores are there too as well as any relevant information that you might need.

In Play Betting/Live Betting

The ALC Sportsbook version of Proline doesn't offer in-play or live betting options. Canadians are required to make between 2 and 8 selections on their parlay bet and betting on single events is not allowed. If your selections are correct you win and you can collect your winning in your account. Winnings are determined by multiplying the odds from your selections and then multiplying them by your wager amount. Ties are also included which is great and this means there are three possible outcomes for moneyline bets.

The ALC Proline mobile version is better than that offered by OLG as you can make two selections instead of the required three selections minimum that must be made at other venues. You also get Proline Fantasy and Proline Futures. Again, these must meet parlay requirements. Futures betting on mobile is very popular and can have great odds the further out the event is, for example, the Stanley Cup winner. The parlay requirement is removed for Proline futures which is great as it is impossible to choose more than one winner in a championship league fixture or sporting event where one team is crowned the champion.

Stadium bets are another option and although they are similar to Proline there are only two outcomes that you can bet on in each game, whether you bet on PC or mobile. They include overtime and shootouts and these are reflected in the live results.

The ALC Sportsbook uses fixed odds and if you are looking for something better, offshore bookmakers may have better options including in-play and no deposit betting markets for mobile and PC users. You will also be able to place bets on over/under and ties. With Proline, if you bet on a football team they must win by four points, in basketball, they have to win by 6 points, and in baseball, they must win by two runs. If this doesn't happen it is considered a tie.

If you choose ALC as your desktop or mobile sports betting venue, you will be able to legally gamble on hockey, Canadian and American pro football, college football, soccer, and NHL ice hockey. There are some markets for European soccer matches too. You won't find UFC or MMA which is a shame as this has become extremely popular in Canada, so if this is something you want to bet on you might like to check out some of the other Canadian sportsbooks that we have reviewed and recommended on our site.

ALC Sports Interface

When you visit the Proline Stadium website through the sportsbook ALC link you'll find a standard sportsbook. The main sports are listed in the top menu and include Hockey, NFL Football, College Football, Basketball, College Basketball, Other, Contests, and Forum. Find out all about NFL betting and the exciting betting options available. The right-hand side of the screen in where you find the list of sports and odds. You can choose from Pro-Line, Pro-Line Fantasy, Pro-Line Futures, and Stadium Bets. All the desktop and mobile games will be listed below and you can click on them to get statistics and more information. The left-hand side of the screen shows all the latest sports news. The site is easy to navigate as there is not much to choose from when compared with other big name brands. There is no in-play section so bettors miss out on a lot of the markets that come with this feature such as next goal scored, first half score, number of goals, etc.

Deposit and Withdrawal Methods

In order to use the ALC sportsbook on PC or your mobile device, you have to register a free account. You can fund your account using credit and debit card as well as WebCash, Interac, or Electronic Bill Payment. There is very little information on the website about how long withdrawals take or the other information that you normally find at international online bookmakers. There is no information on minimum or maximum withdrawals, pending times, or information on managing your account in general.

Customer Support

Customer support is another area that is lacking. There is no live chat and the support team are only available at certain times. Support can be contacted via email, online email form, and by telephone. The support opening hours and Monday to Friday 7am to 10pm and Saturday and Sunday 8am to 10pm. This is a little disappointing compared to other sites that offer 24/7 support and also include live chat as a way for customers to gain instant access to someone who can help with their queries. The only good point that we found is that the telephone number is toll-free but other than that we found the support section very limited. There is no mobile FAQs section either.

Our ALC Recommendation

If you are looking for a legal sportsbook in Canada, ALC Sportsbook would not be our top pick. They use Proline and the picks are quite limited because of the range of betting offered on desktop and mobile. They have a limited number of sports to bet on and there is a low maximum on all wagers set at just $100. It is also only available to residents within the Atlantic Lottery Corporation. Another disadvantage is that parlay bets are the only option and you have to bet on at least three selections at a time. At other sites that allow bettors from Canada, you can bet on single matches and whatever you like. The odds are always much better on international sites too even on NFL. International sites also have more sporting events including rugby, football, UFC, MMA, NBA, NHL, MBA, tennis, cricket, and more. What's more, there are no bonuses or promotions offered at ALC which is a big let down. Most online bookmakers have a welcome bonus for new customers that includes a free bet or a percentage match on your first deposit. They also offer additional mobile bonuses and promotions for regular bettors too including special prices, cash back, codes for no deposit bonuses, and more. ALC Sportsbook doesn't offer any of these and is another reason for our lower rating of the site. If you are looking to make over/under or parlay bets, ALC Sports is a good choice, but if you want more we recommend checking out our list to top sportsbooks for Canada.
