Canadians Compete at the Final Table of Pokerstars Caribbean Adventure

The main event at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure ushered in the 2014 poker season in the Bahamas.

It is a $10 million event that welcomed over 1,000 of the top poker players. After the weekend eight prominent players qualified for the final table with a first place prize of $1.8 million. Two of the finalists are star Canadian players! Mike McDonald and Pascal Lefrancois are the players representing Canada on the international poker stage.

Canadian players dominated in 2013 and these two players are continuing the success into the new year. Mike McDonald has the greater odds at this final table. McDonald hails from Waterloo, Ontario and has won over $5.8 million in prizes throughout his successful career. He made a name for himself in 2008 at Dortmund, Germany. McDonald won the main event on this leg of the European Poker Tour and increased his world poker ranking. He is going into the final table at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure with the second highest amount of chips with an astounding value of $5.6 million. McDonald has a one in five chance of winning this event in the Bahamas.

The second Canadian player at the final table is Pascal Lefrancois. He began his poker career in Rosemere Quebec. His most notable win thus far occurred at the 2010 World Series of Poker. Lefrancois walked away with the gold bracelet win in the $1500 No Limit Hold'em Tournament. His second greatest achievement occurred at the 2012 World Poker Tour even in Montreal where he was runner up.
